Introducing Googmonify
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 by Gary KeorkunianPosted in Googmonify |
I guess I’m on a roll. Googmonify is the latest addition to my collection of WordPress Plugins. In the spirit of Amazonify, Googmonify allows you to insert Google AdSense ad units into your posts with a simple set of tags.
Like it’s nearest sibling, Bookmarkify, Googmonify is still a pre-release product - version 0.1 - and I am still waiting for approval to be added to the WordPress Plugin Directory. However, it’s working just fine. An example of 120 x 90 Link unit appears to the right of this paragraph. You still need to create your ads using the Google AdSense ad manager, but inserting the ad code is greatly simplified with this new plugin.
Additional plans for the plugin include adding support for additional ad types. I welcome everyone’s suggestions. An RSS feed for Googmonify updates will follow shortly. Until then you can subscribe to the entire blog for updates. I am also sending this post out to all of you Amazonify of Bookmarkify subscribers to make you aware of the new plugin.
You can click here to visit the Googmonify Page here at GARA Systems.
Let me what you think. In the mean time, enjoy and happy blogging!!

Once again, I like this one too—Wow!! I need to GARA-IFY my blogs. Where do you come up with these names? They make them fun to use and implement too!

Thanks, Bob. Next I’m going to come up with a plugin that automatically adds friendly and supportive comments to all of your posts. I’m going to call it Bobify. LOL. Seriously, I do appreciate your comments.

I still don’t understand what the ’slot’ stand for … Is it the ID of the AD Sense Account?

toni_acca,
The slot is the placeholder for the ID of the Ad Unit. Whenever you create an Ad Unit in AdSense it is assigned an ID. Google calls this the “google_ad_slot” in the AdSense code.
To find the ID of the ad you wish to insert do the following:
1. Login to AdSense
2. Select the “AdSense Setup” Tab.
3. Select the “Manage Ads” page.
A list of your active ads will appear. The first column - Name (#ID) - contains the name of the ad and the ID. The ID appears under the name and looks like this: (#123456789123)
The number (not includeding the # symbol) is what you want to copy to the Slot position.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
